Sprint & Standard
The 2nd Annual early edition of Cultus Lake Triathlon is being held on June 25th, 2017 at Cultus Lake Park just outside Chilliwack, BC. Cultus Lake is located 90 minutes from Vancouver.
The swim is in Cultus Lake with the Sprint athletes starting first and is divided into separate swim waves. The Sprint swim is one loop and the Olympic course is two loops. The transition area is located on the grass area between the lake and the Main Beach Parking Lot. The bike course for the Sprint is out and back to Yarrow and a one loop course through Yarrow and out into farm country and back for the Olympic event. The bike course is mostly flat with a short climb out of the Park to start the bike and a short climb just before you get back to transition at the end of the bike. The run is alongside the lake and past summer cottages.
The race starts and finishes beside the lake at Main Beach and the post-race awards and lunch is held there (weather permitting).
Race is limited to 500 athletes for 2017.

OLYMPIC DISTANCE RACE: 1500m Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run
SPRINT DISTANCE RACE: 750m Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run
Hosted by Victoria based event management company, Dynamic Race Events, the event attracts athletes from around BC and Washington State coming to the Fraser Valley to experience an epic course in a stunning venue. Athletes can expect a professionally run event in the beautiful surroundings of Cultus Lake.

This course is a one loop course for the Sprint and a two loop swim for the Olympic. Certified Lifeguards and boat, kayak and paddle board support will be on the course to ensure athlete safety.
The course is clockwise with swimmers keeping the buoys on their right.
The two main corner turns will be marked with large yellow buoys and the markers along the course will be orange. Olympic athletes DO NOT exit the water to head out on the second lap of the course as they swim around the yellow buoy located about 20 m off the shore.
The start will be in the water with swimmers in waist deep water.
ABOVE: Leaving transition cyclists turn left on Columbia Valley Hwy which turns into Cultus Lake Rd. and ride out of Cultus Lake Park. At the intersection, cyclists turn left and now ride west on Vedder Mountain Rd. towards Yarrow.

Is located just below the flashing light in the centre of Yarrow at Yarrow Central Rd & Kehler Street.
The Olympic course is a counter-clockwise loop.
Run: The run course is a one loop course for the Sprint and a two loop course for the Olympic distance.
ABOVE: The start of the run course is along the Cultus Lake Path.
PLEASE NOTE: Runners only run in one direction, east towards the boat launch, to start each lap of the course. Runners return to the finish along 1st Avenue and DO NOT come back on the pathway.
ABOVE: “Tree Trail” is an out and back section on the run course at the End of Park Drive.
As runners head towards the finish please remember that 1st Avenue is a one way street, runners will be running the same direction as vehicle traffic. Athletes participating in the Sprint distance will run around the corner at the end of 1st Avenue and proceed through the finish chute and Olympic distance athletes will turn left for their second loop just before the end of 1st Avenue and return to the Lakeshore path and head out for a second lap.
PLEASE NOTE: Runners only run in one direction on the Lakeshore path between the start and the first boat launch to start each lap of the course. Runners return to the finish along 1st Avenue and DO NOT come back on the pathway.

1:00 pm – 4:30 pm Race Package Pickup
Location: Cultus Lake Community School located at 71 Sunnyside Blvd (just past transition).
Pre-race meeting 4:30 pm
We encourage all athletes to attend, as we review the course and answer any questions at that time.
Sunday, June 25th, 2017
6:00 – 7:15 am
Bike check-in and day of race package pick-up . Race day package pickup will be near the transition area and will be well marked with signage.
On race day all competitors must check their bikes in between 6:00 am – 7:30 am
Race Start is 8:00 am sharp
Where is Cultus Lake?
Cultus Lake is located about 15 minutes from downtown Chilliwack and is 100 km (60 miles) from Vancouver.
Driving Directions to Cultus Lake
Cultus Lake is located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada 15 KM South of Highway One, between the cities of Abbotsford and Chilliwack, BC.
When traveling East from Vancouver along Highway 1, take exit 104 which is between the cities of Abbotsford and Chilliwack. This route will take you through Yarrow to Cultus Lake. Just follow signs to Cultus Lake. Cultus is approximately 90 minutes drive from Vancouver, 20 minutes East of Abbotsford, BC and minutes from Chilliwack City centre – and 2 1/2 hours NE of Seattle WA
When traveling West towards Vancouver take exit 119 at Sardis. Cultus is approximately 3 hours west of Okanagan Valley and 12-16 hours west of Calgary.
The closest border crossing is the Huntington Border on Highway 11 between Abbotsford and Sumas, 3km south from Exit 92 of Highway 1. Other crossings are at Aldergrove (Highway 13), not open 24 hours, and the Peace Arch border, south of Vancouver on Highway 99. For updated travel information, please visit Drive BC.
Cultus Lake Cabins
The Park has cabins located next to and across from the Parks Board office.
Sunnyside Campground is a family oriented campground on the shores of Cultus Lake. It is just down the shore from our race site and sits on 65 treed acres and is operated by Cultus Lake Park.
